About the Author(s)

Author Lakshmi Bangalore, Ph.D., is a lecturer and scientific liaison officer within the Department of Neurology at Yale University. She earned her doctoral degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree in science from Bangalore University, India. As scientific liaison officer, she works at the interface between science and society to facilitate public understanding of advances in neuroscience research. Bangalore is a member of both the National Association of Science Writers and the American Medical Writers Association.
